I moved to NS in 2003 from Ontario and my first experience with Kent was in the Moncton Store. I walked into the kitchen department and I was so starry eyed. As I walked through the department I said “I want to work here”. Eight months later I was hired to be a Kitchen Associate in the new Amherst store. I was so excited I did not sleep the night before starting.
Since starting with Kent my knowledge of most aspects of the store has grown exponentially. I have acquired knowledge in plumbing, electrical, paint, home décor and especially kitchens just to name a few. I love the fact that I was encouraged to learn about the variety of products that we sell. I look forward to going to work everyday to take on what ever challenges are thrown my way.
I have been on many training sessions, designed by Kent, to help me become a better Kent Associate and the best Installed Salesperson I can be.
After 3 years of designing kitchens & baths, I decided that I wanted upgrade my skills as a designer. I looked outside the company and found the National Kitchen & Bath Association had a certification program which I was qualified to get as both an Interior Decorator and a Kitchen & Bath Designer.
When I approached Kent’s Head Office to help me acquire this certification and they were more than happy to help me through the process. In my fourth year with the company, after studying for 6 months I got my first level certification “Associate Kitchen & Bath Designer”. I am currently studying for my exam in the spring 2011, in which I will get my full certification in kitchen design.
The support I have received from everyone at Kent from the general manager down has been absolutely amazing. To work for a company that helps associates dreams come true is truly outstanding and inspiring.
I have had great opportunities with Kent, professionally I have grown to be more than I could have ever imagined as a kitchen designer and salesperson and I have also grown as a person! There is nothing more exhilarating than to have a customer leave the store totally happy that their dream kitchen is about to be realized!
I have truly had a great opportunity to work with a lot of diverse people from across the Maritimes and to work with such a successful and supportive company that is totally Canadian is truly awesome!
