Eight years ago as a 15 year old student, I worked 4 summers at KENT in the lumber yard before leaving for University. I am not sure I ever could have imagined I would be managing a store someday.
From day one Kent gave me the opportunity to learn and advance; beginning in the lumber yard and by my fourth summer working full time at the project desk. As a student I learned a tremendous amount about construction, building materials, and general business that has proven to be very valuable in many aspects of my life.
Once I completed university and rejoined the Kent team as a Process Improvement Leader, the value of my education came to life. I was surrounded by a great group of managers and co-workers who made the information I learned in University relate to daily business practices at KENT. I enjoyed the project work I was involved with because I could clearly see how my work was impacting KENT’s success.
Now, as a young Store Manager, Kent has supported me in everyway; sending me to training programs, ensuring mentors are available, and allowing me to make mistakes as I learn. I am 24 years old now and have yet to find anyone else working for another company who has been given the opportunities I have.
